The Way Combat Runs (For any combat that Jormungandr runs)

1) The staffer rolls +init/all/verbose. This will give you something like this.

=================== Jormungandr Calls Initiative ===================

Osmen 16 Ismail 15 Rasmussen 13 Lu 12 Abdi 10 Mercer 8

===================================================================

2) The PCs and NPCs will then pose their intent, starting from the lowest initiative to the highest. In the first round, those who can ‘manufacture’ extra actions announce they are doing so, but they do not declare at this time. Please note: In this phase the PCs and NPCs pose the action – it is highly discouraged to use OOC to say what you are doing. This is not a mathematics exercise. E.G. “Mercer smacks Ismail with his forearm, attempt to use his Fortitude devastating effect” not, OOC Mercer says “I hit Ismail and I have four levels of Potence”

3) After all PCs and NPCs have posed, going from low to high, then we start back at the bottom of initiative and go up, with PCs and NPCs posing their first extra action. And repeat. A PC or NPC would only list all of their extra actions at once, if they are the only one with extra actions.

4) Then, the rolls are taken for the actions, going down from the highest initiative to the lowest. PCs and NPCs make the roll, but the staffer decides what happens. The PCs do not describe the success or the failure of the action, because that led to endlessly long scenes, and arguments about how much damage did that actually do.

5) Summary: After all combat results are known, the staffer will summarize where PCs and NPCs are, if PCs can see them and what condition they are in.

6) Clarifications: Before the initiative is rolled again, PCs can ask the staffer for further details, and if it requires no action, the staffer can describe it.

Then repeat steps one through six until combat is over.
