Security By Level
These are the Standard Packages installed by Security Companies. Each level is based on your resource level. If you have Resources 2 you could receive up to a Security Level 2 set up. If you would like something outside of standard, please speak to your Sphere Staff. If you wish Supernatural defenses or protections, please speak to your Sphere Staff.
Security Level 1 - This level of security allows for visible cameras (non-working), barred windows, audible alarms, lights connected to motion detectors, and pull down fire alarms.
Security Level 2 - This level of security allows for visible cameras (recording to an onsite location, no sound), barred windows, audible alarms, lights connected to motion detectors, electronic keys/keycard readers, and pull-down fire alarms with basic water sprinkler systems.
Security Level 3 - This level of security allows for hidden cameras (recording to an on site location, with sound), 24 hour alarm monitoring (such as ADT Home security), systems such as Ring Home Security (still uncommon), electronic keys/keycard readers, motion detectors attached to the alarm systems, smoke detectors hooked to the alarm system and a basic water sprinkler system.
Security Level 4 - This level of security allows for 24 hour alarm monitoring by fire and police dispatch, electronic keys/keycard readers, reinforced doors and windows, "Panic Room" (a specially reinforced room to barricade yourself in during an intrusion), Carbon Monoxide detectors and a CO2 fire suppression system.
Security Level 5 - This level of security allows for exotic cameras (thermal and night vision), phone or pager contact via security system of an alarm, pressure plate sensors, and a FM200 fire suppression system or Halon with proper safety equipment. This level of security allows for "exotic" security systems, including computer controlled security systems, and remote security system control, locking bulkheads, biometric scanners, containment entrances (where a person must pass through a lock chamber prior to gaining access), and inert gas fire suppression systems.
Note: At certain levels direct monitoring by Police/Fire dispatch becomes an option. Build Staff reserve the right to say no where it makes little sense as the City has to sign off on it. A cafe/bookstore/etc with little intrinsic value will not receive this monitoring. The sorts of places that will? Bank, art gallery with valuable pieces, etc.
Security Installation
Installing a security system requires that the PC or NPC have the secondary skill Security, or the Technology Knowledge at 4 with a Specialty of Security.
A roll of Int + Security/Technology vs 7. The number of successes is what one must achieve in order to fully bypass the system. You can either pay to have security installed or you can install it yourself if you have the security ability. To install a security system yourself, you must have the requisite level of the ability and access to the security level - 1 in resources (minimum of resources 1), in order to be able to afford the purchase of the needed equipment. A PC installing a security system may choose to drop a single die from his pool to add to the difficulty of spotting the security.
PCs and NPCs will be given 3 rolls on the installation, and the best result will be kept. 10s roll over to an additional success. Because this is considered an extended roll, over time, no WP expenditures will be allowed.
When hiring an NPC to install your security system you must have resources matching the level of security you are purchasing. NPC security techs are assumed to have an Int of 3 + the proper level of security.
When hiring a PC to install your security system you must have resources matching the level of security you are purchasing, as you are assumed to be paying them.
Spotting and Overriding Security
All level 1 security features are readily apparent. Hidden security features may be detected on a Perception + Security/Technology check. The difficulty is 4 + the total security level. Bypassing security requires at least one level of security and is Wits + Security/Technology vs 7, requiring successes equal to those of the install in order to bypass the system fully.
